AbouT ME

Hello and welcome to my website!

My name is Nicola.

Originally from the UK, I have been living in the Netherlands from the age of 10.

At 20 I left for Paris, France to  work as an au-pair, looking after three French kiddies, 6, 8 and 10 years old. They certainly contributed to my fluency in French!

Ten months later I returned to Holland to study French Language and Literature at the University of Amsterdam.

However, my childhood love of art and fashion proved to be stronger than my academic ambitions in French literature and I enrolled in the renowned Gerrit Rietveld Academy to study and pratice Fine Arts.

During and post-Rietveld Academy years, I got involved in the very inspriring world of short film as a stylist, make-up artist and setdresser. Seeking more autonomy, I later trained as a decorative painter, learning the old techniques of Trompe l'Oeil, fresco, marbleing and gilding Working for more than 10 years as a professional artist-decorator in the Netherlands and abroad.

Forever a lover of fashion and design, from the age of 18 to this day, I have regularly worked for various high end brands and stores in sales and shop styling and as a business to business sales agent...not only to make ends meet... I have always experienced working in a public enviroment as very enjoyable and socially stimulating.

As a mother of a growing son, it became increasingly apparant to me that I could really get on well with children...and not only my own!

I became more and more interested in teaching art to our next generation.

And so for the last 10 years I have been working as a freelance art and English teacher at a number of primary schools in Amsterdam.

To this day I am still enjoying life in the wonderful city of Amsterdam, working as an artist/decorator,

Pop-In childrens art teacher...and Pop-In shopkeeper*

Feel free to take a peek and see what I have to offer!
